Joining the GION Festival Tour with Ms. Beniko

Though I was born and raised in Kyoto, I still have so many things to see in town. Especially there are many things to learn about GION festival. Various kinds of ceremonies such as Kippu-iri, the opening ceremony which signifies the commencement of the month-long GION festival on July 1, are going on.

As a 1st grade holder of Kyoto Certification, I have visited many places in Kyoto, but never have tried the MUGON-MAIRI, a series of silent prayer. If you wish to learn about MUGON-MAIRI, please visit the blog by Ms. Beniko, a former Maiko at https://www.kyoto-information.yumeyakata.com/single-post/2017/07/21/Mugon-mairi-en.

The other day, I had an opportunity to join a GION festival tour conducted by Ms. Beniko. I wore beautiful YUKATA just like our customers do and walked around the festival area with our customers from Thailand.

What kind of YUKATA should I wear? What color? What pattern? I was already excited at the time of selecting YUKATA for myself. I’d never felt that way for a long time. I think it's indeed a privilege of being a woman!

JUST LEAVE IT TO US!!! YUMEYAKATA offers all kinds of YUKATA perfectly suitable not only for young girls but for mature women, in many colors and patterns of all sorts. Just imagine: wearing beautiful YUKATA, listening to the tales of old Kyoto, you walk around traditional districts with a former Maiko. I believe there’ll be no such moments like that. I’d be grateful if you could see the reports by the tour participants as well.
