As you get off the Feifuku line at Kurumazaki Shrine station, you’ll see a beautiful shrine surrounded by the forest of fresh greenery.

KOMAINU, a pair of guarding dogs, is greeting you at the entrance.

Let's go under the old and beautiful TORII (shrine gate).

Once you pass through the TORII, now you are in a different world! A beautiful stone-paved path is stretching out in front of you, taking you to the land of god. I’m excited!

Alongside the path, there are many sub shrines. I was very busy to look around from the right to the left!

To get to the main shrine, we go under this unique TORII.

This is the main shrine surrounded by fresh greenery. That was so bright in my eyes. The god enshrined here is Sir KIYOHARA NO YORINARI, a famous sinologist/confucian scholar in the late Heian era, now worshiped as a god of wisdom whose benefit is academic accomplishment.

Beside the main shrine, the most famous sub-shrine called the "Shrine of Performing Arts" is located. A lot of famous people (singers, actors, actresses and entertainers) from all over Japan visit here and pray for successes in their career.

These fences made of votive boards in red are called TAMAGAKI. Still today, a lot of artists dedicate these boards with their names on it. How many names do you acknowledge?

On the upper beam of the shrine, funny masks are laughing.

Each sub shrine has their own blesses and histories. Visiting this place in Kimono is such a good decision!

This is just like some kind of theme park. I purchased a OMIKUJI (fortune slip) and wished for a good luck.

KURUMAZAKI shrine is very close to ARASHIYAMA and usually is not so crowded. I took a lot of pictures.
After you get dressed in pretty YUKATA in YUMEYAKATA, take No.73 bus and get off at KURUMAZAKI Shrine-MAE. You can also take Randen line from Shijo-Omiya to go to the shrine.
