Cherry Blossoms and Plum Flowers

Though Ohina-san (お雛さん, Girls' Doll Festival) is over, winds are still cold and winterly. However, a hint of spring has become obvious in the warmth of the sunlight.

The other day I saw Kawazu-zakura (河津桜, early blooming cherry) flowwers by the Sanjo Ohashi (三条大橋) bridge and I found it very beautiful. They were so lovley with their petals swaying under the blanket of blue sky. Watching cherry blossoms in this cold weather is rare and exceptionally delightful.

Yesterday, I saw plum flowers at Gosho (御所, the former Imperial Palace). Various shades of plum flowers, such as pale pink, white, deep pink, and red, were proudly blooming, as if they were competing themselves with each other.

Atractted by the inviting sweet scent, a lot of people gathered to enjoy this heavenly spectacle. I guess spring will arrive soon.

The cake I had with my friend was also dressed in a spring fashion.
