There is "Senbon Enmado Temple" having been called " a temple of the ancestral spirits" from the olden times at the Nishijin district where my parents' home is located.

At the main hall there is a large statue of devil. Evidently it is the entrance to the world of the dead.

During this period in the Bon holidays people go to meet the souls of the dead of their ancestors.

They float down the spirits of the dead on wooden symbols on the pond behind the temple, while they strike on the temple bell to make the sound carried to the world of the dead.

The ancestral spirits get back to their dear old homes.

After I welcomed the ancestral spirits, I visited the Horikawa site of Kyo-no-Tanabta Festival to

enjoy the light show.

The Bon season suits night scenery, not surprisingly.

It was humid night, but I had a great time.
